Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 12, 2026

1. Introduction

QR Code Studio ("we", "our", "us") is a mobile application that allows users to create, scan, and manage QR codes and barcodes. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
- QR codes and barcodes you generate or scan
- Labels and notes you assign to saved codes
- App preferences (default QR size, haptic feedback settings)

This data never leaves your device. It is stored using SQLite and AsyncStorage and is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app.

2.2 Data Collected by Third-Party Services
- Advertising identifier (with your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt)
- Purchase history and subscription status (processed by Apple and RevenueCat)
- Anonymous crash reports and performance metrics (collected by Expo)
- Anonymous app usage/interaction data (collected by Expo)

2.3 Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
- We do not access your contacts, calendar, or location
- Camera is used solely for on-device barcode scanning — video is never recorded or transmitted
- Photo library access is used only when you explicitly choose a logo image for a QR code

3. App Tracking Transparency

On iOS, we request permission to access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) via Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

If you grant permission, Google AdMob uses the IDFA to serve personalized advertisements. If you deny permission, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized. You can change this setting at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

4. How We Use Your Information

- Provide and maintain core app functionality
- Determine your subscription status and unlock Pro features
- Display advertisements to free-tier users via Google AdMob
- Diagnose crashes and improve app performance
- Comply with legal obligations

5. Third-Party Services

RevenueCat – Manages subscription purchases and entitlements. Processes transaction data on behalf of Apple. Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

Google AdMob – Serves banner advertisements to free-tier users. May collect device identifiers (with your ATT consent) to deliver personalized or non-personalized ads. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Expo – App framework. Collects anonymous crash reports and performance metrics. Privacy policy: expo.dev/privacy.

6. Advertising

Free-tier users see banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. Pro subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience. You can remove ads at any time by upgrading to Pro in Settings.

7. Camera and Photo Access

Camera permission is used exclusively for scanning QR codes and barcodes in real time. All processing happens on-device. No images or video are recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Photo library access is only requested when you choose to embed a custom logo in a QR code. Only the specific image you select is accessed.

8. Data Storage and Security

All code data, scan history, and preferences are stored locally on your device and protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, encryption). We have no access to your locally stored data. Deleting the app permanently removes all local data.

9. Children's Privacy

QR Code Studio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will promptly delete it.

10. Your Rights

- View all your data in the History and Settings screens
- Export your data as a JSON backup via Settings → Export Backup
- Delete all your data via Settings → Clear All History
- Opt out of personalized advertising via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
- Cancel your subscription via App Store → Subscriptions

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated Effective Date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
